Easter treats

Currently working on these Easter treat bags. I've finished three, and have two more ready to embroider. I'm making these for my little girls' friends' as a little Easter gift. Hope they like them!

241 tote

One of my best friends was 30 the other day, I'd had in my head that I wanted to attempt a bag for her as she loves handbags. I spent ages looking at fabric and patterns. I chose the 241 tote by noodlehead, then  struggled with fabric choice. I almost let her in on it and let her choose the fabric herself, but then I found some while in a local shop. Didn't stop me worrying if she would like it! 

Anyway, she loved it, so I can finally share some pictures. I'm so pleased with it, and absolutely loved making it. 

  

I added hidden magnets to make it close at the top, and really wanted to use two fabrics for the handle. As the bird print was directional, I did a join in the middle, so the birds were all the right way up! 

I bought 1/2 metre of the three main fabrics, and used almost all of the flowery one for the lining, but have some left of the other two.  Flo's Garden by Makower, is only available in-store in Hobbycraft, but I found it here, here and the collection here. The other two fabrics I used were Essex yarn dyed linen in flax, and Birch Organic Fabrics - Mod basics in Teal.  For the interfacing I used Vilene G700 for the pockets, to reinforce the  lining behind the inside pocket, for the hidden magnets and Vilene S13 was used in the handle.

asked to make..

I was asked to make a wedding heart like the one I made here. Ok, only by my mother-in-law, but it's still nice to be asked!  She wanted to incorporate the wedding colours; which were cream and lime green, and also said that the bride loved lace. So, I used this on the reverse as she didn't want any words like the previous heart.

Apparently the bride loved it, and so did my mother-in-law, so I was happy!

Elephant pouch

My husband printed a couple of patterns for me on Friday, one of them being this tutorial and pattern by Very Berry Handmade, for a flat bottom, straight sided pouch. I think his printer did reduce the size slightly, but as I couldn't wait to get going, I used it as it was!  

This is my first attempt at a pouch and at a zip! Few problems here and there (through lack of experience, the tutorial was great, thanks Ali) but here it is;

Finishing off

While my youngest baby had a nap this morning,  I made a simple phone case for my husband to stop his phone getting scratched (his shop bought one is broken). It's a bit boring and grey, but he won't use it otherwise!  I  thought I better finish off his wallet by doing the top stitching, I emailed him this picture and his response was "About time."

Square in a square

I thought I'd give this tutorial a quick go by Red Pepper Quilts. Her quilts are gorgeous, and I especially love the economy block one she made. I want to make a cushion and maybe a quilt using this method.  Let's see if I can get some more fabric ordered for this!! 

A monster

She kept asking to watch the little monster on tv, (my eldest daughter this is, and she meant Elmo on Sesame Street, that we'd found on catch up tv), and so, I made her a little monster one evening out of felt. This is my lovely husband holding the monster;

If I ever made another, I wouldn't do the horns so small, as they were really hard to turn! I left him on the shelf of the play kitchen, and in the morning when she came downstairs she said "Mummy what's that? You made it for me?" She was so pleased with him. I was so happy, as she has been a bit scared of things recently, and certain faces on toys, so obviously I was glad he wasn't a scary monster!
